As most of you have heard Mr. Jerry Brown, after many years of saying “I think it’s time for me to retire”, has finally retired. While we will miss seeing Mr. Jerry around, we wish him well and a very well deserved retirement. While we would love to have a retirement gathering for Jerry to show our love and appreciation for the last 61 years he dedicated to St. Peter Church, Cemetery and School, he didn’t want to make a big deal of it. So if anyone would like to send Jerry their personal well wishes and appreciation, you can either mail them directly to him at Jerry Brown, 267 East 24th Street, Reserve, LA 70084, drop off at the Rectory or put in collection basket and we will forward them to him.
Today, the Church celebrates the Feast of the Holy Trinity. At a young age, we learned to make the Sign of the Cross and the accompanying prayer: “In the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit. Amen.” We have lost track on the number of times we have said this prayer while making the Sign of the Cross. We say this when we enter a church, when we begin Mass, when we pray. It is our identity. It reminds us that we are in the presence of God. It joins us to millions of other Christians across time and space. It expresses our belief in the Triune God. Three persons in one God enabled God to become incarnate—enabled God to come down upon us in baptism—and enables God to be with us here today and every day. As we celebrate the Feast of the Trinity, let us contemplate the great wonders God has done and continues to do in our daily lives.
Today is the fiftieth (50th) day of Easter. The Church concludes the Easter season on the Solemnity of Pentecost. In fire and wind, the Spirit of the Lord descends with God’s seven -fold gifts of Wisdom, Understanding, Counsel, Fortitude, Knowledge, Piety, and Fear of the Lord. From the time of our Baptism, we have been blessed with the gift of the Holy Spirit. The Holy Spirit operates in us, guiding us, and strengthening us on our mission.
Today is the Solemnity of the Ascension. Up until recently the Ascension was celebrated forty days after Easter, thus celebrating the Ascension on Thursday. However, in most areas of the United States, Europe, and Australia, the Vatican gave approval for ecclesiastical provinces to transfer the feast to the Seventh Sunday of Easter. On the day Jesus ascended to heaven to remain with His Father, He commanded His disciples to carry on His ministry—proclaiming the good news to the whole world. Now we are that whole world. Now we are those disciples. Now we too are commissioned to go out and spread the good news!
“Thank You” from the Ladies Altar Society for your generous support for their ‘traditional’ Mother’s Day carnation sale! Monies raised helps them to pay for flowers, altar cleaning and supplies.
HAPPY MOTHER’S DAY! On this Sixth Sunday of Easter, we celebrate Mother’s Day. A day in which we honor our mother’s. May your day be special and filled with love from your children, grandchildren. For those of us who lost mothers, I pray that they are sharing this day in heaven with our Blessed Mother.

Someone has lost a rosary while attending a funeral here at St. Peter Church and was hoping it was found by someone as it has a very high sentimental value to them. It has a small black case, maybe 2 x 2 and the rosary is also small, with long rectangular white beads made by Lloyds. If found, please return it to the Rectory here or give us a call at 985-536-2887.
