The Scripture readings on this Sixth Sunday of Easter mark a turn in the celebration of the Easter Season. We begin to focus on the promise of the Holy Spirit. In the selection from Acts, after the people of Samaria are baptized “in the name of Jesus” and accept the word of God, apostles are sent to pray over them so they receive the gift of the Holy Spirit.
HAPPY MOTHER’S DAY! I pray that your day will be filled with God’s blessings of love and joy as you are surrounded by your family. Treat Mom to a dessert today baked by the youth of the parish. The annual Mother’s Day Bake Sale will be this weekend under the portico.
Today, on this Fourth Sunday of Easter, is Good Shepherd Sunday. The responsorial psalm today is Psalm 23 which portrays the Lord God as a shepherd and the Gospel provides an image of Jesus as the gate for the sheep.
