Dear Parishioners;
We enter the most sacred and solemn time of the Liturgical year. We enter Holy Week. Holy Week is a time set apart from the rest of the calendar so that we might recall the suffering, Death, and Resurrection of Jesus. Holy Week begins on Palm Sunday and reaches its climax in what we call the Triduum, which means “the three days” of Holy Thursday, Good Friday, and Holy Saturday.
As we recall and commemorate the events of the first Holy Week, when Jesus willingly laid aside his glory and embraced the cross of our salvation, may we be filled with gratitude and awe at the One who loves us so much. This year we read the Passion Narrative from the Gospel of Mark. We commemorate Jesus’ triumphant entry to Jerusalem where he is greeted with people waving palm branches and saying, “Hosanna! Blessed is he who comes in the name of the Lord!” By Friday this will change from shouts of joy to shouts of “Crucify him! Crucify him”
I encourage all parishioners to attend the Triduum Liturgies of Holy Thursday, Mass of the Lord’s Supper; Good Friday, the Solemn Liturgy of the Lord’s Passion and Death and Holy Saturday evening, The Easter Vigil Mass.
The
second collection this weekend is for the Easter flower decorations. I will hear
confessions on
Wednesday, March 28th from 6:00 P.M. to 7:00 P.M. Please note that confessions will not be heard on Holy Saturday afternoon.
Please refer to the bulletin for the Liturgical Services of Holy Thursday, Good Friday, Holy Saturday and Easter Sunday.
Have a Blessed Holy Week!
