Dear Parishioners;
HAPPY NEW YEAR! We have entered a new year. Can you believe it; it’s 2018. How many of us remember when we began the new century in 2000? Looking back, it seems so long ago. As the new year begins and may God continue to shed His Light upon all of us. As we face the new year, with new opportunities, challenges, hopes, and dreams, may we always continue to rely on God’s grace and blessings. Remember, God loves each one of us unconditionally.
Today, the Church celebrates the manifestation of Christ to the entire world with the Three Kings, who represent outsiders. In most years, the Baptism of the Lord is celebrated on the Sunday after Epiphany; but when Epiphany is celebrated after January 6th, as it is this year, the Feast of the Baptism of the Lord is observed on the Monday after Epiphany.
Saint Matthew’s Gospel is the only Gospel that tells of the Magi’s visit to the new born King. They were willing to travel from the East to find Him. We, too, can find Jesus in our daily lives by being open to the many ways He is present to us.
As I mentioned in my column before the Christmas holidays, I would like to start two committees: Maintenance and Beautification. If you are willing to be a part of these new committees, please fill out the forms in today’s bulletin.
Have a Blessed Week and Blessing to all as we journey together in this new year of God’s grace and love!
