As we journey together on this Fifth Sunday of Easter, we give praise and thanks to God for sending us the Son, who sacrificed His life to save us, who has shown us the way to eternal life. In today’s Gospel, Jesus tells His disciples that He is preparing a place for them in His Father’s house. Jesus tells the disciples and us that He is the Way, the Truth, and the Life. Let us place our trust in the Lord that one day we will reach God’s dwelling place.
Our First Communion celebration will take place today at 11:00 A.M. Mass. I thank all those involved in preparing the candidates to receive Jesus in Holy Communion for the first time.
The Second Collection this weekend will be for the Diocesan Priests’ Retirement fund. I ask for your generosity in supporting this special collection.
The Order of St. Louis IX ceremony will take place this afternoon at St. Catherine of Siena Parish. Over 240 lay people throughout the Archdiocese will be recognized for their contributions to their parishes. I am happy to announce that Miss Pauline “Poochie” Triche will be receiving the St. Louis Award for St. Peter Parish.
Congratulations are also in order for three young members of St. Peter Parish who will be recognized for their leadership among the youth of the parish. On behalf of the parish, I extend congratulations to Brodey Becnel, Camille Mistretta, and Zachary Waguespack.
