Despair and grief are part of the human condition, and are often brought on because of loss or suffering. Many of us, if not all of us, can relate to Job. At one time or another, we have felt like Job. We wonder if we will ever see happiness again. Resist the temptation to gloss over whatever may trouble you. Like Job, have the courage to raise our voice to God in prayer, sharing your disappointments and sorrows. At the same time, pray for the kind of healing that comes only through the Lord. As followers of Jesus we are called to live in Hope.
The second collection this weekend is for St. Peter School. I ask for your continued generosity.
Normally, we would end Catholic Schools Week with the annual St. Peter School Alumni Mass and Gumbo, but due to COVID-19, we decided that it was best to cancel it this year.
Let us continue to pray for all those we know who have been affected with the virus. We pray for their healing.
Before you know it, the Season of Lent will be upon us. The Lenten schedule was in last week’s bulletin and will again be in the bulletin next week. Please keep it handy.
I encourage you to participate in Deacon Richard and Diane’s Lenten Series. “Spiritual Excellence: The Path to Happiness, Holiness, and Heaven.” They will facilitate the series on the Mondays of Lent in St. Peter Church so that we can observe social (physical) distancing. This will take the place of our annual Mission.
The second collection next weekend is for the Building-Maintenance Fund.
