Dear Parishioners;
Easter Sunday may have been two weeks ago, but Easter Time is still just beginning. Other than Ordinary Time, Easter Time is the longest season of the Church year. Unlike Advent and Lent, two seasons that look forward to the two major feasts days of the year, Easter is a season that prolongs the feast that’s already, been celebrated. Because the resurrection of Christ is so important, the event calls for a celebration that continues for many weeks.
Today’s Gospel from Saint Luke, two disciples of Jesus encounter him on the road to Emmaus, where the risen Christ makes himself known to the disciples in the “breaking of the bread.”
The second collection this weekend is for the Church Roof. I ask for your continued generosity. On the weekend of April 21 and 22, as the Church celebrates the Fourth Sunday of Easter, and National Day of Vocations, the Archdiocese of New Orleans will have a second collection in all church parishes for the
Diocesan Priests Retirement Fund. I ask for your generosity in this collection.
Last weekend, parishioners from the Evangelization committee spoke at all the Masses inviting parishioners to sign up for the new ministry of “Greeters” in St. Peter Parish. There are no age requirements. All ages are invited to sign up and be a part of welcoming parishioners and visitors to celebrate Mass with us.
Parish Council nominations are also being sought. There are three (3) vacancies that need to be filled for next year. Please pray and ask the Holy Spirit for guidance in the selection process.
Have a Blessed Easter Week!
