Tomorrow we celebrate the solemnity of All Saints when we recognize those people who we believe have gained the eternal rewards and are forever in the presence of God. Today, we hear Jesus tell a scribe, “You are not far from the kingdom of God,” suggesting that this anonymous functionary who was close to being a saint. To be a saint should be the goal of every man, woman, and child.
The Knights of Columbus, Msgr. Eyraud Council 2436 will sponsor the All-Saints’ Gumbo today in the KC Hall. The cost is $10.00. Take a day off from cooking and enjoy a delicious bowl of gumbo and potato salad. If there is any gumbo left over, the KC’s will sell it on Monday, All Saints Day in the KC Hall.
Monday, November 1 st is the Solemnity of All Saints. This year, since it falls on a Monday, is not a Holy Day of Obligation. Masses will be at 6:30 A.M. and 10:00 A.M. The Blessing of the Cemetery will take place immediately following the 10:00 A.M. Mass. The Msgr. Eyraud Ladies Auxiliary will be selling “treats” in front of the cemetery.
Confirmation rehearsal will be on Tuesday, November 2nd at 6:30 P.M. All Confirmation candidates needs to attend. Sponsors should also be in attendance. If a sponsor cannot attend, candidates please give them the necessary instructions.
Parishioners are invited to attend the Sacrament of Confirmation on Monday, November 8 th at 7:00 P.M. Archbishop Gregory Aymond will preside.
True Presence Nights, a regional Eucharistic gathering will be held at St. Joan of Arc Church in LaPlace on November 11 th . These regional Eucharistic events will be presided by Archbishop Aymond, focusing o reestablishing the most central and foundational aspect of our life of faith: communion with Jesus, truly present to us in the Eucharist.
