Today, on this Second Sunday of Advent, we will hear the beginning of the Gospel of Mark (1:1- 8), where we hear the mandate of John the Baptist: Prepare the way of the Lord! Repent! The message at the end of today’s Gospel offers us hope: “One mightier than I is coming after me.”
The second collection today is for the Building -Maintenance Fund.
The Solemnity of the Immaculate Conception is on Tuesday, December 8 th . It is a holy day of obligation. The Vigil Mass will be on Monday, December 7 th at 5:00 P.M. Mass on Tuesday, December 8 th will be at 6:30 A.M., 8:15 A.M. (School Mass. If parishioners attend, you are asked to sit either in the last pews of the main section of church or in the day chapel.) Evening Mass will be at 7:00 P.M.
In good times and bad, senior Catholic sisters, brothers, and religious order priests have dedicated themselves to service and acts of mercy. Today, they pray for an aching world. Yet years of serving for little or no pay have left their religious communities without enough retirement savings. Next weekend is the annual Retirement Fund For Religious. Your gifts to the Retirement Fund for Religious helps provide medications, nursing care and other necessities of life.
