12th Sunday in Ordinary Time

Dear Parishioners,

HAPPY FATHER’S DAY! To all our fathers, grandfathers, godfathers (parrains), and father figures in our lives, may your day be filled with God’s Blessings. May Saint Joseph, foster father of Jesus, and protector of the Universal Church, continue to guide you. Father’s Day is always celebrated on the third Sunday in June. This year, Father’s Day, is the official first day of summer. Of course, we have been in “summer mode” for a few weeks now. May all our dads who are no longer with us, rest in eternal peace.

In today’s Gospel, we hear Jesus calm the raging seas as His disciples cling to the storm-tossed boat. The disciples were terrified that they would die, but Jesus suggests that their faith should have reassured them.

St. John the Baptist Civil Parish will resume its annual Fireworks event on Thursday, July 1st on the grounds of St. Peter Catholic Church in Reserve and St. John the Baptist Catholic Church in Edgard. Festivities begin at 6:00 P.M. with the fireworks beginning around 9:15 P.M.
