Dear Parishioners;
The Apostles had to wait until the first Pentecost to receive the Holy Spirit; but were blessed with the Holy Spirit when we were baptized. The Holy Spirit is within each one of us. Moreover, together we are united in the Spirit, who moves among us, here in this building as well as around the world. As we celebrate Pentecost, let us be aware of the movement of the Spirit in our lives.
Today, on this Solemnity of Pentecost, is the
Peter’s Pence collection, a world-wide collection that supports the charitable works of Pope Francis. Funds from this collection help victims of war, oppression, and natural disasters. Take this opportunity to join with Pope Francis and be a witness of charity to our suffering brothers and sisters around the world.
With the Solemnity of Pentecost, the Church concludes the Easter Season. We return to Ordinary Time beginning tomorrow. The next two Sundays we will observe two special feasts of the Church, namely, Trinity Sunday and the Feast of the Body and Blood of Christ.
The
Rosary Procession will be on Sunday, May 27th following the 8:00 A.M. Mass. Please come and join us in honoring our Blessed Mother Mary as we process with her image and pray the rosary. If you are unable to walk in the procession, the rosary will be prayed in church at the same time.
Have you noticed the hand railings in the sanctuary? As our community gets older, we need the assistance to walk in the sanctuary. A very special thank you to Julian Keller who made the railings. Also, another special thank you goes to Perry and Kim Scioneaux who did the finishing work on the railings and installed them. I have had many compliments about the railings.
It’s hard to believe it but school will be out for the summer this week. I hope everyone will have a peaceful, relaxing summer. Remember, school is out, be careful and have fun. Remember to stay close to God during this time of relaxation and don’t forget to attend Mass.
Next weekend’s second collection will be for the church roof.
Have a Blessed Week!
