Today, we celebrate the Solemnity of Our Lord Jesus Christ, King of the Universe. As we close the liturgical year with today’s solemnity, it reminds us that Christ is King and ruler over all humanity. He is the king of the eternal heavenly kingdom. To His followers, Jesus referred to this kingdom as the Kingdom of God or his Father’s Kingdom, but through His ultimate act of self-sacrifice He became the firstborn of this kingdom, ready to show us the way.
The second collection this weekend will be for the Catholic Campaign for Human Development. In the United States, one in eight people lives in poverty. With this collection, you support programs that address the root causes of poverty and provide a sustainable future for those struggling across the country. In addition, 25% of the funds we collect remains in the Archdiocese of New Orleans to fund local antipoverty projects.
Thursday, November 25th is THANKSGIVING. Mass on Thanksgiving will be at 8:00 A.M. We need to come together as a community of faith to give thanks to God for the blessings we have received even in the midst of recovering from Hurricane Ida.
The Advent season begins on November 28th . We will have an Advent Morning of Prayer and Reflection in church on Saturday, December 4th from 9:00 A.M.-12 Noon.
