This week we return to the liturgical season of Ordinary Time. However, this Sunday and next Sunday are designated as solemnities—special days that call our attention to the central mysteries of our Faith. Today, on the first Sunday after Pentecost, we celebrate the Solemnity of the Most Holy Trinity. This feast invites us to consider what we believe about God, who has revealed Himself to us in the Trinity—one God in three Persons.
Monday, May 27th is Memorial Day. It is a day in which we commemorate all the men and women who have died in military service for the United States. Once again, the cemetery is aligned with the American flag in commemoration and honor for all military personnel. I am grateful for members of the Msgr. Eyraud Knights of Columbus council #2436 for taking over the duties from the American Legion for putting up the flags in the cemetery.
In preparation for the Hurricane Season, the National Votive Shrine of Our Lady of Prompt Succor is hosting a Virtual Rosary on Thursday, May 30th at 12:30 P.M. This event will be streamed, and you will be able to participate via their Facebook page. Participants will be able to follow and pray the Rosary as well as submit petitions through comments or in a message. The Facebook link is: facebook.com/ shrineolps.
The monthly dinner sponsored by the Msgr. Eyraud Knights of Columbus Council # 2436 will be on Sunday, June 2nd .
There will be a special collection the weekend of June 8th -9 th for a new air conditioner. The outside unit near the cry room was replaced a few years ago. Now, it’s time to replace the inside unit. The cost is approximately $30,000. Once we have reached $15,000, we will order the unit. I ask for your support with purchasing this new unit. The summer months are getting hotter, and we need all a/c’s to be in tiptop shape to cool off the church.
