This week we return to the liturgical season of Ordinary Time. This Sunday, and next, however, are designated as solemnities—special days that call our attention to central mysteries of our faith. Today, on Trinity Sunday, we celebrate the mystery of the Holy Trinity, one God in three persons. It is through God’s self-revelation to us through Jesus the Christ and His Paschal Mystery, that we come to know the Triune God from whom all life flows. As we hear proclaimed in today’s Gospel: God so loved the world that he gave His only Son, so that everyone who believes in Him might not perish but might have eternal life (John 3: 16).
The second collection this weekend is for the Building Maintenance Fund.
Our monthly Adoration of the Blessed Sacrament takes place on Wednesday, June 7 th . Adoration begins at 1:00 P.M. and concludes with Benediction at 6:00 P.M. I encourage all parishioners to spend some quiet time with our Eucharistic Lord. As the Church in the United States continues with the Eucharistic Revival, what better way than to know and experience the Real Presence of Jesus in the Eucharist.
Here is the latest information concerning the repairs to St. Peter Parish from Hurricane Ida. Mr. Lee Vignes from the Sulzer group emailed me the following: “This is what I know. The original bids that were received required post-bid interviews, so that’s been the delay. Since then, we have awarded the project to FCA Construction, and that contract is being drafted. Upon execution we will submit the permit application and schedule the pre-construction meeting with the architect, contractor, and the parish. I know it’s a drawn-out process, but we are doing our due diligence to ensure that there is no loss of funding from the insurance or FEMA. We really appreciate your patience.” Hopefully, the repairs to the church and parish buildings will begin soon; however, there is no exact timeline for it.
