As we did last week, we are reading from the Gospel of John. Today, we will listen to the story of the healing of the blind man to which we turn for insight into the spiritual life. For people in the Bible, isolation from the community was a form of death. Life was re-entry into the community. As we celebrate the blind man’s healing, we celebrate his acceptance and return to the community. What is it that needs healing in our lives? How do we need to change our hearts and let Christ’s gifts of freedom, light, and life enter us?
This weekend, March 18th and 19th, the Archdiocese of New Orleans will host a very important second collection to raise funds to offset the costs of educating seminarians at Notre Dame Seminary and St. Joseph Seminary College. All funds collected will go directly to supporting the education and formation of the twenty-two (22) men currently studying to be priests in the Archdiocese of New Orleans. Please give generously to this very important fund that will provide monetary support to those men who will minister to the people of God in the Archdiocese of New Orleans for years to come.
