Today, the Fourth Sunday of Easter is traditionally called Good Shepherd Sunday because the Scripture Readings, especially the Gospel, invites us to reflect on Jesus as the Good Shepherd. In each of the three-year Lectionary cycle, the Gospel is taken from the tenth chapter of Saint John’s Gospel. The chapter sets the framework for Jesus’ teaching about Himself as the Good Shepherd.
The second collection this weekend is for the Catholic Home Mission Appeal. Four of the seven dioceses of Louisiana receive financial assistance from the Catholic Home Mission Appeal so that they can provide for the necessary training and formation of seminarians, religious sisters and brothers, and lay people.
On Sunday, May 7 th at 11:00 A.M. Mass, we will celebrate First Communion. Please keep our second graders in your prayers as they prepare to receive Jesus in Holy Communion.
Monday begins the month of May, a month dedicated to Our Blessed Mother, Mary. I urge all parishioners to make the time to pray the Rosary as a family. We make time for sports, dancing, etc., let’s make time for God and Our Blessed Mother. If you can’t spare praying five decades of the Rosary, then pray at least one decade a day/night at your convenience.
Wednesday, May 3 rd is our monthly Adoration of the Blessed Sacrament. Adoration begins at 1:00 P.M. and concludes with Benediction at 6:00 P.M. I encourage all parishioners to come and pray before the exposed Blessed Sacrament.
