Today, begins the national observance of
Catholic Schools Week. The theme is: Catholic Schools: Learn, Serve, Lead, Succeed.”
The theme for Catholic schools this year focuses on the core of Catholic education. Schools are not only communities themselves, they are also part of larger communities, including St. Peter Parish, Reserve, Louisiana and our nation.
Here at St. Peter’s our general school theme is
“Simply one Family.” It’s a true feeling of being a family. Recently, the mission coordinator for the Archdiocese, told me that St. Peter’s is really a family. She said, “I felt it when I walked in the school and observed the children, faculty, and staff. She went on to say, “I haven’t found that in most schools. You should be proud of your school.” I told her that I am. Like all families, we have challenges, but we face them together and with prayer and love to help all grow in God’s love.
The second collection this weekend is for the Champions for Catholic Education. This collection goes to support an endowment of the Archdiocese of New Orleans in helping financially struggling families afford Catholic education.
The annual St. Peter School Family Day Picnic will be on Friday, February 1 st . The day will begin with Mass at 9:00 A.M. Here at St. Peter’s we will conclude Catholic Schools Week on Sunday, February 3, 2019 with the
annual Msgr. Eyraud Mass and Alumni Day Reunion at the 11:00 A.M. Mass.
The second collection next weekend, February 2nd & 3rd, is our annual collection for St. Peter School,
which will remain in the parish and given to the school.
