Dear Parishioners;
Today the Church begins a semi-continuous reading of the Gospel of Mark. For these few weeks before Lent, we will hear of Jesus’ activities in and around Galilee. In Mark’s Gospel, Jesus begins his ministry by calling four Apostles—changing the direction of their lives.
Tomorrow, is the Day of Prayer for the Legal Protection of Unborn Children. Let us continue to pray for all of God’s children, born and unborn.
The special second collection today is for the Church roof. I ask for your continued generosity.
WE welcome today, Sister Paula Marie Derise, O.Carm. She will give a brief talk about her ministry with Notre Dame Hospice. Sister Paula spent some time here at St. Peter in the mid- 1980’s at the director of religious education.
First Reconciliation will be on Saturday, January 27th at 10:00 A.M. in church. Please keep our young ones in your prayers as they experience Jesus’ forgiveness and love in the Sacrament of Reconciliation.
A reminder to all married couples: Deacon Richard and Diane Abbondante will give a presentation of “Couples praying together” at St. Charles Borromeo on Saturday, January 27th from 1;30 PM.-4:30 PM.
Symbolon, Part 2: Living the Faith will begin on Monday, January 29th. Session times will be at 10:00 A.M. in the Lacour Center and 7:00 P.M. in church. If you plan on attending, please register this weekend on the sign-up sheet at each of the entrances to church. We need to order the books for the sessions.
Next weekend, the second collection will be for the Champions of Catholic Education Fund. This collection is being taken up at all Catholic churches in the Archdiocese of New Orleans. Without financial assistance offered through the Champions of Education Fund, some Catholic families would not be able to continue in Catholic schools. This collection is not to be confused with the annual collection for St. Peter School which will be on the weekend of February 3 and 4, 2018.
Have a Blessed Week!
