3rd Sunday of Advent

Dear Parishioners,

Today, the Third Sunday of Advent, is known as Gaudete Sunday. Gaudete is Latin for “rejoice” which is the initial word of today’s entrance antiphon. We rejoice today, for the coming of the Lord is so near that we cannot help but think about it. Perhaps we are starting to feel overwhelmed by all that we need to do between now and Christmas. Let this be an opportunity to refocus our attention on the true reason we celebrate this time of year. Rejoice, the Lord is near!

Hundreds of religious communities of Sisters, Brothers, and religious order priests struggle to provide for aging members because most of them served for little or no pay. Your gift to the Retirement Fund for Religious helps these communities bridge the gap, offering support for medication, nursing care, and other necessities. The second collection this weekend is for the Retirement Fund for Religious.

The second collection next weekend, December 19th & 20th will be for the Christmas flowers.
