Next weekend there will be a special collection for the Catholic Campaign for Human Development. Currently 38 million people in the United States live in poverty. This collection funds programs that empower local communities to address the challenge they face. The Catholic Campaign for Human Development supports those living in poverty across the country. It identifies and addresses the unique obstacles people face as they work to lift themselves out of poverty. In addition, 25% of the funds collected remain in the Archdiocese of New Orleans to fund local antipoverty projects. By supporting this collection, you are giving those on the margins a hand up, not a handout.
Before you know it, Thanksgiving will be here. We have gone through a lot this past year with the pandemic, Hurricane Ida and the aftermath of the storm, but there is always a need to give God thanks for the Blessings we have received. I invite all parishioners and their families to Thanksgiving Day Mass on Thursday, November 25th. The Mass will be at 8:00 A.M. What better way to begin our day of thanksgiving than to give thanks to God as we come together as a parish family to thank God for His continued Blessings in our lives.
Just a heads up as we look to the Advent season, which begins on November 28th. We will have an Advent Morning of Prayer and Reflection in church on Saturday, December 4th from 9:00 A.M.-12 Noon. Sister Gloria Murillo, S.T.J., Associate Director of the Archdiocesan Spirituality Center will lead the Advent morning of prayer and reflection. This is a perfect way to “set the tone” for our Advent journey.
