Dear Parishioners;
Today, we celebrate the Thirtieth (30th) Sunday in Ordinary Time. Since we have thirty-four weeks in Ordinary Time in the Liturgical Year, we can say that the Liturgical Year will be ending soon.
On this Thirtieth Sunday, another controversy is developed in this week’s Gospel in which a scholar of the law attempts to trap Jesus. He is asked to identify the greatest commandment of the law. Jesus’ summary of the law points to two commandments—love of God and love of neighbor. Jesus proves his fidelity to the Jewish tradition and “his commitment to a spirituality that emphasizes the essentials.” The Pharisees in this part of the Gospel are attempting to trap Jesus and a scholar of the law, believes this question would trip Him up. However, Jesus answers the question about the greatest commandments with ease.
Confirmation practice will be on Monday, October 30th at 6:30 P.M. in church. All candidates for Confirmation as well as their sponsors need to be present. If a sponsor is unable to be present for the practice, candidates please inform them what they should do.

Also, next weekend and the following weekend, November 11th-12th the parishes of St. Peter and St. Hubert will be collecting non-perishable food items to fill the Thanksgiving Baskets for the needy families in our communities.
On November 6th candidates for the Sacrament of Confirmation from St. Peter and St. Hubert Parishes will receive the outpouring of the Holy Spirit in Confirmation. Archbishop Alfred Hughes will be the confirming prelate. The Confirmation will be at 7:00 P.M. All parishioners are invited to attend to give witness and affirm these young men and women in their decision to be confirmed in the Roman Catholic Faith.
Have a Blessed Week!
