Today is WORLD MISSION SUNDAY. We celebrate this day by remembering our baptismal call—to bring the Gospel to all! The second collection today for the Society for the Propagation of the Faith supports the work and witness of the Mission Church, as it provides for priests, religious sisters and brothers, and lay leaders who offer the Lord’s mercy and concrete help to the most vulnerable communities in the Pope’s missions.
In his message for World Mission Sunday this year, Pope Francis asks us to respond to our baptismal call to mission by saying, “Here I Am, Send Me.” This is the mission that all Christians have received, and God gives us the grace to live it out wherever we may be.
Our Confirmation candidates will participate in the Rite of Naming today at the 11:00 A.M. Mass. Confirmation is scheduled for Monday, November 2, 2020 at 7:00 P.M. with Archbishop Alfred Hughes, archbishop emeritus.
All Saints Day is fast approaching. Since it falls on a Sunday this year, our Mass schedule will be the regularly scheduled Masses. The Blessing of the Cemetery will take place immediately following the 11:00 A.M. Mass. This year, due to the restrictions placed upon us with COVID-19, chicken and andouille gumbo will not be served.
