Each October the Catholic Church in the United States celebrates Respect Life Month, and the first Sunday of October is observed as Respect Life Sunday. As Catholics, we are called to cherish, defend, and protect those who are most vulnerable, from the beginning of life to its end, at every point in between. During the month of October, the Church asks us to reflect more deeply on the dignity of every human life.
The second collection this weekend will be for the Building Maintenance Fund.
I would like to thank all who participated in our Family Day Picnic last Sunday. I especially want to thank the members of the Pastoral Council for hosting and serving. Thanks for all those who brought delicious desserts to share with everyone. We had more than enough to go around. I heard many compliments from you, the parishioners, for having the Family Day Picnic. It was also good to see Deacon Richard and Diane Abbondante at the picnic. They will always be considered St. Peter Family.
Wednesday, October 5 th is the monthly Adoration of the Blessed Sacrament. Adoration begins at 1:00 P.M. and concludes with Benediction at 6:00 P.M. In conjunction with Adoration the Msgr. Eyraud Knights of Columbus Council 2436, will gather at the Monument to the Unborn for a rededication and prayer service. The monument was originally dedicated twenty-five (25) years ago on October 5, 1997.
October is also the month of the Rosary. I encourage every family to take a few minutes a day to pray the Rosary. If you cannot pray the five decades, then pray one decade each night. Families are stretched “thin” with many activities. I pray that each family will find the time to pray the Rosary together as family.
