Dear Parishioners;
Conflicts are often hard to resolve and can be even more challenging in the church. Scripture tells us that this has always been true. Today, conflicts are often subject to immediate publicity and the process of healing may be harder than ever. Today’s readings, however, confirm that the ultimate root of reconciliation is always the same. If we love and respect one another, the steps to healing are made possible…even easier.
This weekend’s special second collection is for the Hurricane Harvey disaster. I ask for your generosity.
Next weekend, September 16 & 17, our second collection is for the Catholic Communications Campaign. The campaign connects people with Christ, here and around the world in developing countries, through the internet, television, radio, and print media. Fifty percent of funds collected remains in the Archdiocese of New Orleans to fund local communications efforts. Your support helps spread the gospel message! To learn more, visit www.usccb.org/cc.
Confessions will be available here at St. Peter as well as in all Catholic churches in the Archdiocese on Wednesday, September 13, 2017 from 5:00 P.M. – 6:30 P.M. Please consider taking advantage of this opportunity to invite the healing Christ into your heart with the promise of mercy.
The annual Priests Convocation will take place from Tuesday, September 19th through Thursday, September 21st. This year it is also the Louisiana State Priests Convention. All priests of the Archdiocese of New Orleans are required to attend. On Wednesday, September 20th and Thursday, September 21st Deacon Richard will conduct a Liturgy of the Word and Communion Service in place of the 6:30 A.M. Mass.
Have a Blessed Week!
