Be Prepared! It’s not only the Scout motto, but also good advice for daily living. In this hurricane season, thankfully, the tropics have been quiet this year, we are told to make initial preparations at the beginning of the season so that we are not overwhelmed in the event a storm is headed our way. In today’s Gospel, Jesus tells His disciples to be prepared for the Son of Man will come like a thief in the night. This is our challenge now. Are we prepared for the day when our time here on earth comes to an end? Will we be prepared if it comes this year, this week, or even this day? Today, let us pray that with God’s grace we may always be ready for that day when we see the Lord face-to-face. May the Eucharist nourish and strengthen us as we grow as disciples of the Lord Jesus.
The second collection this weekend is for the Building Maintenance Fund.
Well, vacation time is over! School will begin. St. Peter School will open its doors to begin its 93rd year on Tuesday, August 9th. If you are still looking for a quality Catholic school to enroll your child(ren), St. Peter is the place to be.
Registration for elementary religious education classes for students not attending a Catholic elementary school will be on Saturday, August 13th in the Lacour Center.
Next week our parish will take up The Catholic Relief Services Collection. Funds from this collection provide food to the hungry, support displace refugees, and bring Christ’s love and mercy to vulnerable people here in the United States and abroad.
