When we gather as a faith community to give glory to God, we expect that our experience will be similar to what it was the week before, or the week before that. Most likely this is how the faithful of Nazareth felt when they went to synagogue. Then one day, Jesus, son of Mary, a carpenter, whom some may have known when he was just a boy stood up to preach. Unlike the crowd in today’s Gospel, may we be open to the Word of God entering in unexpected ways.
Next weekend, our parish will take up the 134
th annual Black and Indian Mission Collection. Our support of this collection helps build the Church in African American, Native American and Alaska Native communities from coast to coast.
The monthly
Adoration and Benediction will take place on
Wednesday, July 11th. Adoration begins at 1:00 P.M. and concludes with Benediction at 6:00 P.M. I encourage and invite all parishioners who are able to spend one (1) hour with the Lord in the Blessed Sacrament.
We have two opportunities to support local drama and theater in our community. St. John Theater will present
The Little Mermaid and River Parish Community Theater will present
Beauty and the Beast. It’s a good way to spend some quality time with family and friends. Check their websites or the flyers on the church bulletin boards for dates and times.
Have a Blessed Summer Week!
